HAROPA 2020 Throughput

After a difficult year in 2020, HAROPA finished the year with a total throughput of 108 milion tonnes (maritime and inland waterway), 6% lower than the year before.

Maritime traffic was 75 million tonnes, 16.7% lower than 2019. This was due to the Corona Crisis and the stoppage at the Total refinery in Gonfreville-l’Orcher.

Container traffic was down 14% at 2.4m TEU, after a recovery in volume in the last quarter of 2020. Containers by inland waterway were down 16.5% at 383,000 TEU.

Maritime solid bulk traffic was up 5% at 14.5 million tonnes, of which cereals accounted for 8.77m tonnes (up 6%). Liquid bulks were significantly lower (-21% year on year) at 36.3 million tonnes.
