Potential inclusion of Rail Freight targets in French Climate Law
The 4F alliance is concerned about the industry’s oversight in the draft Climate Act, while the Citizens’ Convention had endorsed the goal of doubling the share of rail in freight transport by 2030. In particular, they are calling for the Government to make doubling the modal share of rail freight a national objective, supported by this law which aims to reconcile ecology and the economy. This target of doubling the modal share of rail freight from 9% to 18% by 2030 is included in the conclusions of the Citizens’ Climate Convention, and has been approved by the Government, but it has not been included in the bill.
