Spain to invest €1.5bn in rail freight

Rail Journal reports that yhe Spanish Transport Ministry (MITMA) will spend €1.5bn through the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan to develop rail freight business, and to achieve modal shift. Spain aims to increase rail freight share from 4% of tkms to 10% by 2030.

The plan includes development of four inland rail terminals, and measures to increase rail flows inland at major seaports.
