Antwerp half Year Results, 2021
Antwerp has reported traffic volumes for the first half of 2021, roughly in line with the same period in 2019, and 5% higher than the same period in 2020. Container traffic has continued to grow year on year since 2019. Container volumes are 4.3% higher in the first half of 2021 compared to 2020, and 3.9% higher compared to 2019. Dry bulk and steel sectors show growth in 2021. Liquid bulks are also up slightly in 2021, but still substantially lower than 2019. Brexit is having a large impact on traffic with the UK and Ireland in 2021, but volumes to and from Antwerp for both UK and Ireland are up, compared to the same period in 2020.
