Infrabel Upgrades Tracks in Leuven to 740m

Infrabel has been upgrading part of its network around Leuven to accommodate 740m trains. The work is costing EUR7m and is expected to be completed in early 2022. The route via Mechelen and Leuven is part of the long distance corridor connecting Antwerp by rail towards Germany, Luxembourg, and France, bypassing Brussels. SpoorPro.nl reports that around 40 freight trains pass Leuven every day.
