Major European Ports to provide onshore electricity for large container ships

Rotterdam, Antwerp, hamburg, Bremen and Le Havre will supply onshore power to large container ships (over 18,000 TEU) from 2028. The ports will collaborate, leading to standardisation, lower costs and more widespread use of onshore power. Onshore electricity reduces emissions from ships while they are in harbour, and in future the electrity will itself be generated sustainably.
