European Container Trade, Continuing Impact of Covid-19 Crisis in 2021.

In this article we apply the methodology for estimating containerised trade flows, and examine the impacts of the Covid-19 Crisis on the container sector for the the first quarter of 2021. This report focuses on eight continental European countries: Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, and Czech Republic.

The report concludes that container trade in the first three months of 2021 has grown by between +1.4% and +1.5% compared to the same period in the year before. Similar results have been recorded at the main container ports serving this region of Europe. The data also shows that nost of the growth seen in 2021 occurred in March.
